Looking to dress up your Windows Phone 7 handset for Halloween?  Well the nice thing about background wallpapers on Windows Phone is that you do not have to find an image that is exactly the dimensions of your Windows Phone 7 handset.  By saving a regular size wallpaper to your phone you can select the part of the image that will be displayed without altering the original image.

Here are some Halloween related images that you can save to your phone.  Two basic ways to do this – either view this post on your mobile phone to save them or save them to your desktop and then sync them using the Zune software.

Thanks to the flickr users credited for the images.

Once they are on your phone here is what you do:

  • Go to your Pictures Hub and find the album with the saved images and top on it.

Screen Capture (17)

  • Next select the photo you want as your background on the lock screen and then tap the three dots in the lower right corner to get the context menu.

Screen Capture (19)

  • Tap the use as wallpaper option

Screen Capture (18)

  • Using your finger to move the crop box back and forth select the area of the original image you want to use as your wallpaper.  You can only go side to side and not up and down.

Once you have it selected the image is now your lock screen wallpaper as shown below:

Just repeat for each image you want to use on your lock screen.

Shhh – don’t tell anyone but you can actually do this with any image on your phone – not just those for Halloween!

Have fun!
