TogetherWeServed.com, creator of the largest online military heritage community, have announced the launch of a similar site for active and retired law enforcement officers.  Police: Together We Served is being run by police officers and is exclusively for U.S. officers who have served as a police officer, federal officer, sheriff or state trooper.  Identity validation of service is required to be granted membership.

Brian Foster, president and founder of TogetherWeServed.com said "When we first launched TWS in 2003, we had no idea how strongly it would be embraced by the military community.  As many members went on to serve in law enforcement after their military service, we wanted to honor and connect officers in the same secure way through PTWS."

Some of the features available to registered users of the service include:

  • Create a service history which allows officers to connect with former colleagues.
  • Make a shadow box that shows off your record of service, including pictures, high resolution images of badges worn, decorations or citations earned.
  • Use instant messaging to make contact with former co-workers and interact on forums across many interests and specialties.
  • Use the Police Knowledge Center to share professional information and advice across all levels with the understanding it is a secure place to share that information.

I am a member of the Navy Together We Served and it is a well run network so there is no doubt in my mind that these guys know how to run a site like this.  I am sure it will also be very successful like the other TWS sites for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.  They have nearly 1.3 million members across all of those sites and service in uniform brings people together in a very unique way so it is a great way to connect with those you have served with.
