Netflix Offers Pure Streaming Plan for U.S. Subscribers

What do Xbox Live, TiVo, PS3, Wii and the Internet all have in common?  They are all avenues to receive Netflix streamed content of course.

Netflix has finally decided that the growth in streaming content warrants a specific subscription plan just for streaming on all of your devices.

With its members now watching more content streamed over the Internet than on discs delivered by mail, Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) today introduced a $7.99 streaming-only subscription plan in the United States, the first time it is promoting a 100 percent streaming option in the U.S.  The plan, which allows members to instantly watch unlimited movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix to TVs and computers, is available now to both new and existing members.

This is a pretty good deal if you do a lot of streaming from Netflix but is this plan enough to make you move to Netflix streaming?

    Hey window observer,

    I was wondering if you knew whether or not netflix’s was planning to take their video streaming to the next level. Frankly… It would be 100 percent awesome, IF they took their heads out of their A$%es and move their whole video archive live. “For real!!!”, who in their right minds want’s to wait for physical dvds to arrive in the mail. Personally when I’m in the mood for a movie at would rather flip on my ps3 and stream live in matter of seconds vs having to wait for days.

    Its of course understandable that they have a whole marketing plan associated with their dvds , however its in my opinion that what you lose in savvy marketing you make up for with quantity of new customers eager to have almost every single movie available at their finger tips.

      Mike,

      Not sure I understand your comment as this story was about them shifting to a full streaming option for their library instead of waiting for DVD’s.

      Am I misunderstanding your comment?
