Not sure why they are down but it is a strange time of day (8:00 AM EDT) to be doing server upgrades isn’t it?
This graphic comes up on both the main Foursquare site and the mobile version.
Anyone heard anything about this?
Update at 8:26AM EDT: Found this tweet from about 14 hours ago:
So we’ll be down for some maintenance tomorrow morning from 7-8am EST. Hold your check-ins for that hour until we’re back. K thx bai about 14 hours ago via web Retweeted by 92 people
Seems they are running behind on their hour long maintenance.
Update at 8:43AM EDT: Looks like Foursquare is back up on all fronts! So why do upgrades or planned maintenance periods always take longer than planned?

Good, I was hoping to rack up some check-in’s this afternoon, I’m going out for lunch today and just getting out of the house for a while.
