Microsoft has posted the latest IE8 compatibility listing for websites that work better in IE8’s Compatibility View Mode.
Windows Internet Explorer 8 is Microsoft’s latest web browser. Unlike previous versions, Internet Explorer 8 renders content in the most standards-compliant way possible. This means that web pages will be displayed in Internet Explorer 8’s standards mode by default. Through product feedback channels, our users have indicated that, during the beta period, some websites may not have been compatible with Internet Explorer 8 in its default, standards-based mode. As a result, these domains have been added to a list of sites that, for the short-term, are most likely to be displayed better in Compatibility View. All Internet Explorer 8 users are given the choice to use this list, and the subset that chooses to do so will see each listed domain automatically displayed in Compatibility View, without additional user interaction or notice. The sites on this list have high traffic volume (in their regions), and having a compatible website ensures a significant number of Internet Explorer 8 users will have a great experience. This list will be periodically updated and automatically downloaded to Internet Explorer 8 users who have opted-in to use Compatibility View updates from Microsoft. For more information on Compatibility View list updates, please see – http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960321.
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7; Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2; Windows Server 2008; Windows Server 2008 R2; Windows Vista Service Pack 1; Windows Vista Service Pack 2; Windows XP Service Pack 2; Windows XP Service Pack 3
The Compatibility View list contained within this download is in Microsoft Office Excel 97-2003 format. Please ensure you have a compatible application or viewer installed.
It is a massive list as well – 3,207 sites listed in either states of removal or pending removal.

IE8 For Windows XP Download
There is the download for IE8 on Xp. You do need SP2 or SP3 though.
I also recommend you seriously consider upgrading to Windows 7 as it is a very secure OS.
How do I get rid of the Human Confirmation crap which has been coming up since I got your update?
I am not sure I understand what your asking. What Human Confirmation dialog do you mean? Can you type the message your being asked in a reply comment?
I have the same problem, a window comes up says “human confirmation?” and if you hit ok it directs to web pages for advertisers…IT FREEZES UP MY PAGE i AM NO MATTER WHAT PAGE IT IS? HOW IS IT FIXED?
I do not believe this has anything to do with the IE8 Compatibility List but rather with sites either being infected with something on their web pages. That in turn fools you and tries to force you to that sign up page, give private info and then no telling what they do with it.
I would exit that page for sure. If you’re getting this on every web page you visit then you need to make some changes to your system to get rid of this.
This page gives some ideas for trying to deal with it:
